Customer problem:
I used CGDI Prog BMW to add new keys to my BMW CAS4+ via OBD after preprocessing, but some fault codes were appearing, and the car didn’t work with the original car key and new key, even though I reprogram and made coding.

You need to know something important about CAS4 and CAS4+.
CAS4 is unencrypted and CAS4+ is encrypted. For example, the 5-series or 7-series models from 2009 to 2012 are all CAS4 models, while the 2013-2016 models are CAS4+ versions. Now more and more tools can add new keys via OBD. However, there is a big risk when doing CAS4 via OBD.
Recommend you to use a safer way- remove the module to read the data. Especially like the 2012 7 series F02 Chassis 6HP, it has a big risk via OBD, and needs to remove the module to read the data for repair. It has a small risk to add CAS4+ keys via OBD, but still has risks.
For this problem, we can try to use the following method to solve it.
Step 1: Confirm the initial anti-theft version information is CAS4 or CAS4+
For example, it shows CAS4 PLUS version in the initial key matching screen.
If you don’t take a photo and don’t remember what version this is, you have to go to the installation folder in the CGDI BMW to find the document and open. If there is a password, ISN, key synchronization code, DME ISN then this is CAS4+. In contrast, CAS4 has two lines of code.
Step 2: Match the original car key and set the code again
Synchronization code is lost due to the reduced version of the programming process.
So, we need to know the number of key position of the original car key, then match the original car key again, and set the code for anti-theft in the F system as well.
After the matching and coding process are complete, return to the key matching interface, which has changed back to the CAS4 PLUS version. Then go to test whether the key is normal.
Customer’s feedback:
I did as you said and the original car key and new key worked fine, but the wiper always scraped, and there are many fault code still appearing.
CGDISHOP.com engineer replied:
Don’t worry, the problem is not big. In this case, you need to clear fault code and generate dealer key again.
Clear the fault code once and then turn off the switch and wait 10 minutes to return to normal.
In another case, if the original car key works, but the new key still cannot work, please enter the ISN of the engine manually to generate the dealer key again. Then the problem will be solved.
Finally, the customer gave feedback that his BMW CAS4+ can be started with the original key and new key.
