Purpose: Use CGDI Prog MB to replace Mercedes-Benz EIS W221 old by writing the original EIS data into new EIS.
It applies to the case: there is something wrong with the original EIS hardware, but it can read out the original EIS data incl. key password.
Main steps to replace Benz W221 EIS:
1.Use CGDI MB or CG Pro 9S12 or other tool to read out your original EIS data
(SSID , VIN , EIS password ,key position information )
2.Wipe your donor EIS (No need do it if your EIS are new )
3.Write the original data into donor EIS
4.Add a new key to activate the donor EIS (your old key should still work too)
Connection:
1.Connect CGDI MB key programmer to the computer via USB cable
2.Connect AC Adapter with the W221 EIS and CGDI MB, then supply power
Note:
W221 has two versions: new and old version
The related wiring diagram can be found in the CGMB software.
There are four options to choose:
-W216 W221 new
– W216 W221 new (AC Adapter)
– W216 W221 old
– W216 W221 old (AC Adapter)
This W221 EIS tested is old (AC Adapter). So follow the corresponding wiring diagram to connect
Operation:
Step 1: Read original EIS data by CGDI MB Tool
1.Select “EIS-EZS”-> “Read EIS Data”
Read out SSID, EIS number, key position info.
The EIS has been erased before, so don’t have VIN here.
The VIN has been found and written in a notepad.
2.Plug the original key into CGDI MB programmer coil to read the EIS password from the BE key (Read/Write key-> Read Be key password)
Then save EIS data
4.Copy the VIN and paste to the corresponding position
5.Save EIS data again
Save the file of original EIS data successfully
Tips 1:
Sometimes CGDI MB cannot get the info or fail to calculate the password, you should use CG Pro 9S12 programmer or other programmers to read data and then load into CGMB.

And wipe the donor EIS and write data back.
Step 2: Wipe donor EIS (No need do it if your EIS are new)
1.Remove the original EIS, and connect the donor EIS to AC Adapter
2.Get the EIS password from the BE key (the operation is same as step 1)
3.Paste the EIS password got and save it
4.Remove the key and get erase password
Erase password calculated successfully
Tips 2:
Sometimes it will show you “Sorry! Erase password not found”

5.Follow the prompt to insert the simulation key into the EIS in 30 seconds to wipe
Wipe EIS succeed, and then write the original EIS data into donor EIS
Step 3: Write the original data into donor EIS
Write VIN first and then write EIS data
Insert the simulation key into the EIS in 30 seconds againWrite EIS data successfully
Step 4: Add a new key to activate the donor EIS
(Your old key should still work too)
1.Plug the BE key into CGDI Benz
2.Read key/chip-> Reset
Reset successfully
3.Load EIS data-> read EIS data again to check all info is correct-> save new EIS data
Then start to add a new key to activate the EIS
4.Load the new EIS data saved to generate
Save the data generated
5.Read key/chip again-> open file/write-> choose 51 format file until write success
6.Insert the key into EIS to test
Activate donor EIS successfully
Tips 3:
When the key communicates with EIS, the key red dot will always be on.
Wait a few seconds!
Pull out the key and insert the EIS, the red dot will flash a few times. It means the key learning is successful.
